That's why imo it's an invaluable tool.Little Snitch is probably the best host-based application firewall solution for macOS app. LS allows you to block one and allow the other. For example, a connection attempt to paddleapi might be something to block, but a connection to a subdomain of the app's website may be essential. Most FW apps only block traffic at the app level, even if some of that traffic is necessary to preserve the proper functioning of the app. )Įdit: Just realized I should probably say more about my granularity comment. I sure hope they don't reword them and move buttons or something or I'll be screwed. I couldn't even tell you what the popups say anymore. I've restarted the beta demo so many times I could do it blindfolded. I've never used anything else as I love the granularity to control individual processes that LS offers, and afaik no other app even compares. So one can get by using LS beta in demo mode. Again, as a practical matter, these attempts generally only occur during an app install, or an auto-update if you forget to disable that from within the app.

I assume you want to use an app like LS to block "phone home" attempts by cracked apps.
But as a practical matter, this has never been a problem. The headache is that LS will stop every 3 hours and require you to confirm restarting it in demo mode, so traffic could slip through when it's down. I discovered I can run LS in beta demo mode and get by. I think the last working release of an LS crack was in 03/2020 for v4.4.3, so I gave up on cracks.
